|
- expect a low pitched, gabled roof
- could be one or one and a half and two stories
- unenclosed, wide, overhanging eaves with brackets and beam ends exposed visually stress a wood craftsman's skills
- a substantial porch runs partial or perhaps full width of the house
- gabled dormers are prominent
- porch columns are sturdy, square or angled masses combining wood and stone, especially cobble stone
- the wide popularity of this style, started in California by Charles and Henri Greene, was due in part to extensive media attention in magazines
- this style is quite influenced by the Arts and Crafts Movement
- expect large, multi-paned windows, perhaps with a bit of stained glass
